About linux.wtf

linux.wtf is an independent directory of Linux distributions. We help you find official downloads and clearly identify the copies we host.

Download sources

Official source takes you to the distribution’s own image or download page. A download page may offer a newer release than the dated information in this catalog.

linux.wtf copy is a file served on our download domain, with its checksum or archive-copy status shown beside the download. Official images use reviewed mirroring permissions. If an official copy is missing, changed, or overdue for review, use the official source.

Owner-provided copies of Red Star OS 3.0 Server, Desktop and Boot are downloaded to linux.wtf at the site owner's request. Their SHA256 is computed locally, without publisher checksum, signature or authenticity verification. These entries offer only the linux.wtf copy. Use Red Star OS at your own risk.

What “verified” means here

For modern images, SHA256 matched the exact filename in the official checksum document at the time shown. Early Ubuntu archives may publish only SHA1 or MD5. Those copies are labeled as legacy checksum checks: these older algorithms are weaker, and their SHA256 is computed locally rather than compared to a publisher-provided SHA256.

Some early official archive files have no published checksum. We label those copies as having no upstream checksum, with a local SHA256 recorded for later checks of the saved file. They do not have publisher checksum verification.

Supported publisher signatures are checked against bundled, fingerprint-pinned public keys. Historical Ubuntu signatures using its old key and SHA1 are labeled separately. A missing signature is shown as unchecked; an invalid signature prevents publication. Other signature formats remain unchecked.

A checksum is an integrity check. It does not establish that an operating system is free of vulnerabilities or malicious code. Verification records describe a completed check, not a continuous scan.

Dates and availability

Every catalog entry has a review date. This is a curated snapshot, not a live feed. Unrecorded release dates and unpinned rolling versions are labeled explicitly. Listed architectures cover this catalog’s download options and may be a subset of those supported upstream.

Hosted copies expire from the download options when their verification or catalog review becomes stale. The official link remains available. A failed download may also reflect temporary network or storage problems; resumable downloads are supported by the production file server.

Independent by design

linux.wtf is not affiliated with or endorsed by the listed distributions. Unmodified official Ubuntu, Debian and Fedora images can be mirrored under maintained project policies. Other images require confirmed redistribution permission. Source code information links lead upstream; linux.wtf does not archive corresponding source packages or claim to provide a written source offer.
